Affordability is the number one priority issue for consumers. Energy Consumers Australia Chief Executive Officer Lynne Gallagher delivered this presentation to the Australian Energy Regulator’s Rate of Return Instrument Stakeholder Forum in July.
These slides present our research which finds that sentiment towards the energy market is declining. With prices likely to stay high for the foreseeable future, consumer sentiment is likely to continue to fall unless consumer bills are reduced. Our research also shows that consumers desire for a transition to clean energy quickly.
Presented on 27 July 2022 to the AER Public Forum on Rate of Return, slides include:
- Outlook for prices
- Consumer confidence in value for money
- Consumers are concerned about affordability
- The household energy divide is widening
- Consumer confidence in the market is not high
- Consumers want a plan to keep the power on
- Consumers have a view on the pace of change to a clean energy future
