We generally support the Australian Energy Market Commission (AEMC)'s draft determination to assist hardship customers, particularly:
- Ensuring all hardship customers are paying no more than their retailer’s best offer
- Improved reporting to the Australian Energy Regulator (AER) on retailer offers to hardship customers, as this can improve transparency into the diversity of prices and experiences available
- The AEMC's agreement with many of the recommendations in our submission to the Consultation paper, including enabling hardship customers to pay less through either a credit or a better offer, and requiring retailers to check and provide the benefits of a better offer at least once every 100 days
