Project summary
This research investigates the transition from gas to electric energy in Australia, focusing on the strategic decommissioning of gas distribution pipes. It addresses the political and commercial challenges of this shift, driven by three key consumer concerns: potential cost savings from electrification, health risks associated with gas use, and vulnerability to volatile international gas prices. The project aims to explore geographically targeted electrification strategies to enable an orderly, phased transition off gas infrastructure.
