The Board of Energy Consumers Australia is pleased to announce the appointment of Lynne Gallagher as its interim CEO.

Energy Consumers Australia Chair, Louise Sylvan AM, said Ms Gallagher was well-placed to lead the organisation for the next twelve months.

“Australian households and small businesses are grappling with unprecedented economic, health and social pressures. The Board has taken the decision to appoint Ms Gallagher on an extended, twelve-month interim basis to ensure Energy Consumers Australia remains a strong, focussed and consistent voice for consumers during this challenging period.  

“Ms Gallagher was formerly Energy Consumers Australia Director of Research and has extensive senior leadership experience in the energy, financial and public sectors.

“Ms Gallagher’s experience building the evidence base about the role that energy plays in people’s lives, and work on reforming the sector to give people greater control over their energy use and bills, is very relevant in this crisis context.”

Ms Sylvan said the Board would revisit its plans to run the open recruitment process in early 2021.
