When was the last time you let yourself imagine?
Here at ECA, we believe that imagining what a better energy system would look like for consumers is key to shaping the future.
Over the past nine months, we’ve taken this to heart as we’ve embarked on an extensive consultation and strategic planning process, and considered what a fair, affordable, and reliable energy system for all Australians might look like.
Today, I’m pleased to share with you the result of this work. Our 3-year plan captures our vision for the future and provides a concrete roadmap about how to get there.
At the heart of this plan are seven targets that we believe must be met for Australian energy consumers to thrive in the energy transition.
As you will see, we are bold in our ambition, because we firmly believe that anything less would be a disservice to Australian households and small businesses.
But one thing is sure: we can’t achieve this on our own.
System change of this magnitude will only happen when many voices, from many sectors, and many different walks of life come together. Whether you’re leading policy decisions, driving advocacy, or simply navigating the energy system, we want to work with you.
We’d love to hear about the work you are already doing, or the information you need to make decisions, and explore how we can collaborate to maximise our impact. Please send us an email at info@energyconsumersaustralia.com.au.
As Saint-Exupéry, author of The Little Prince, so eloquently put it, “Building a boat isn’t about weaving canvas, forging nails, or reading the sky. It’s about giving a shared taste for the sea.”
This 3-year plan will help keep our eyes focussed on the horizon, while also serving as a practical roadmap to navigate the choppy waters ahead.
We’ve already rolled up our sleeves and are starting to bring this plan to life.
