We bring together...

We work with respected market research company UMR to survey 2,500 residential and small business energy consumers twice a year. We share the findings with consumer advocates, policy makers, regulators and energy companies.

Together we...

Analyse and interpret the survey data to gain insights into the lived experience of residential and small business energy consumers to inform policy, regulation and business practice.

We do this because...

Understanding consumers’ needs, preferences and issues is critical in a market undergoing the biggest changes in a generation.

Key Findings

Consumers are telling us that overall they are satisfied with energy services, with the number of people who rate their services 7 out of 10 or higher (a positive rating), ranging from 58 per cent in Tasmania to 70 per cent in the Australian Capital Territory.

However, while overall levels of consumer satisfaction are quite high, most do not believe they are getting value for money from their energy services.

Consumers are investing in new technology – particularly solar panels and batteries – to get control over their bills and a sense of independence.
