The NSW Energy Savings Scheme (ESS) plays a key role in reducing energy consumption, cutting emissions, and lowering bills. As the NSW Government seeks to align the ESS Rule and Regulation with the Energy Security Safeguard, it is essential that these updates provide clear and equitable benefits for all consumers.

Consumers need to be assured that SAPN is thinking about its repex challenge in a way that joins up the thinking about the future of energy services in South Australia.

We have embraced the opportunity presented by the economy-wide Consumer Data Right for the clarity and extensibility it provides.

Our submission suggests that Commission’s Review is an opportunity to explore more flexible, ‘principles-based’ models which can mitigate changing risks for consumers and place the onus on businesses to meet higher standards.

Our view is that investment of the scale contemplated in the Integrated System Plan should be considered as part of a national infrastructure framework.
