Energy Consumers Australia (ECA) is an independent national energy consumer advocacy body to help shape ongoing energy market reform, in particular for residential and small business customers. The ECA is also responsible for managing and funding grants for research to engage and influence policy development and consumer education in the energy markets.

The ECA Board is seeking to appoint a Reference Committee of up to 10 members. The Committee is an advisory group and provides an opportunity for the ECA Board to consult, in depth, on energy consumer issues. The Committee advises the ECA Board on emerging consumer issues and the development of the ECA’s work program. The responsibilities of the Committee include:

  • providing informed and effective advice to the ECA Board on current and emerging consumer issues and the development of ECA’s work program
  • sharing grass roots consumer feedback and research
  • responding to issues raised by the Board.

The Committee is not a decision-making body and does not have powers to instruct the ECA Board or the CEO on policies or management.

Nominees will need to be available in person to attend the Committee’s three meetings a year. Meetings may be convened in any National Energy Market (NEM) State or Territory. The role is not remunerated, however all expenses directly associated with attending the Committee meetings will be reimbursed.

Members will be appointed from July 2017 for up to two years and may be appointed for shorter periods to provide advice on specific issues.

The ECA Board welcomes applications from interested parties that include:

  • Cover letter of up to two pages, detailing your understanding of the current consumer issues in the NEM, your expertise and knowledge of consumer energy issues or expertise in a related industry or one of relevance to the work of ECA
  • Current resume.

Please send your application to Sabiene.Heindl@energyconsumersaustralia.com.au and we will reply to the email address used for your application.
